italian healthy lasagna ♥




Ingredients


3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil


1 medium onion, finely chopped


2 cloves garlic, minced


½ – 28 oz. can of chopped tomatoes


½ – 18 oz can of tomato paste


½ tsp sugar


½ tsp dried oregano


2 tbsp fresh basil


2 pinches crushed red pepper


1 lb fat free turkey ground beef


8 ¾ oz lasagne sheets


8 oz mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced or you can use shredded it melts better if preffered but fresh always tastes the best!


3 ½ oz fresh parmesan cheese, grated


3 Tablespoons + 1 teaspoon (1 ¾ oz) plain flour


3-1/8 cups (750 mL) of milk


2 ¾ oz butter fat free of course


Salt and pepper


• 1 frying pan • 1 spoon • 1 wooden spoon • 1 medium-sized saucepan • 1 casserole dish


Directions


Make Sauce:


Step 1: Pour the extra virgin olive oil into the frying pan and heat over a moderate temperature. When the oil is fairly hot add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion softens.


Step 2: Add the chopped tomato, tomato paste, sugar, oregano and basil Season well with salt and pepper, add crushed red pepper flakes, mix together and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. set this aside you will layer this mixture on your lasagna sheets.


Step 3: Stir in the ground lean turkey sausage, then remove the pan from the heat.


Step 4: Preheat the oven Set the temperature to 180ºC, that’s 350ºF or gas mark 4.


Make the bechamel sauce:


Step 5: Melt fat free butter in the saucepan, then add the flour and stir in well. While stirring, slowly pour in the milk. Season with salt and pepper. Let the sauce thicken by gradually bringing it to the boil while continually stirring. Finally add the parmesan cheese, stir in and remove sauce from the heat.


Build Lasagna


Step 6: Layer the lasagne and sauces in the casserole dish To build the lasagne, add a layer of lasagne sheet and spread some bechamel sauce on top. layer on top ground turkey with garlic and onions and tomatoes mixture,repeat with lasagna sheet. Repeat this process until you’ve added all the ingredients. finally add mozarella on top layer of lasagna.The last layer should be the béchamel sauce poured over which will become crisp in the oven.


Step 7: Bake Place the dish in the middle of the oven and bake for 35 minutes or until the bechamel sauce has turned golden-brown.


Step 8: Remove from the oven and serve When golden and bubbling, remove the lasagne from the oven and serve while piping hot with a fresh, green salad and crusty bread. drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and enjoy!
