sugar free pink licorice ♥

Here is a great sugar free candy recipe to make your own twizzlers at home and super healthy!  You can alter the color if you want red use strawberry for traditional color, but I used strawberry kiwi gelatin powder, to get my fave color pink!  enjoy! ♥

To make this sugar-free licorice, combine seven packets of  sugar free strawberry kiwi gelatin powder ( this is what makes it pink! ) and 3/4 of a cup of sugar substitute ( I use Stevia brand)  in a coated nonstick saucepan. Add 1/2 a cup of cold water and stir until the mixture is semisolid and spongy. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the mixture is melted.   The consistency should be similar to thick maple syrup or molasses.

Pour the candy into the prepared baking dish, and shake it back and forth so that it is in an even layer. Place the baking dish in the refrigerator and chill for 30 minutes. Remove the baking dish from the refrigerator, and, with a thin spatula or other thin kitchen implement, remove the candy in one piece from the baking dish onto a flat surface. With kitchen shears, cut the square of candy in half, and then cut each half into 1/4-inch wide strips.  You may if you want twist the strips at both ends to create the traditional licorice spiral. Allow to sit at room temperature until slightly hardened, and serve. ♥

Note if you want a brighter pink color like mine just add I used a glob of Duff Goldman brand electric pink gel food coloring (from Michael’s).

here is where you can get the mold for the licorice!

  1. Since the sugar free flavored gelatin powder has aspartame in it I wonder if you could use plain gelatin and add in powdered drink mix for the flavor and color? I stay as far away from aspartame as I can.

  2. Yes you could! :) or you could use Splenda as a sugar substitute, I find this works well, and is much better for you than apartame, thanks for browsing my recipes! :)

  4. I really want to try this, but just to clarify, do you mean 7 of the full packets of gelatin? The ones at my local store are 10g/packet and that just seems like a lot!
